Welcome to Global Coups

This website brings together the Global Instances of Coups dataset and a forecasting project in one place. This site is a work in progress: right now the Downloads and Global Coups pages run on a small set of sample events so we can build and test the site's structure ahead of integrating the full dataset.

What to expect

• Global Coups lets you explore recorded coup attempts on a map, over time, and as a searchable list of case descriptions.
• Predictions will host the interactive predictive map once the forecasting model is ready.
• About covers the history of the Global Instances of Coups dataset and the Global Coups forecasting effort.
• Downloads will host the country-year, country-month, and full event data, along with the codebook.
